ACTIVE VS. PASSIVE CONNECTORS

The INFINIBAR’s most unique feature is the ability to link multiple 1ft, 2ft, or 4ft INFINIBARs together using a comprehensive collection of 14 differently-shaped connectors to design creative shapes and effects. Users can power and charge multiple INFINIBARs using one power supply when linked by the power-sharing connectors or use their internal batteries for greater versatility. The INFINIBAR’s infinite blending design also eliminates visible gaps between fixtures to create seamless pixelated effects. Read on to learn more about the different connector options available to users.

ACTIVE CONNECTORS

Active connectors enable users to create closed and open loop INFINIBAR 3D or flat shapes and arrays by bridging the 5.5mm DC power ports located at the ends of each INFINIBAR. Without the need for extra cables and power supplies, INFINIBAR shapes created using active connectors are ideal for in-camera lights or in situations that demand clean-looking linear lighting arrays. Currently, there are 10 different active connectors available for purchase individually or in the INFINIBAR Multi-Light Shaping Kit.

PASSIVE CONNECTORS?

In situations where users need to connect multiple closed loop INFINIBAR shape arrays together without opening those loops or if users want to keep INFINIBARs on separate circuits, passive connectors are the tool for the job. Passive connectors secure INFINIBARs together end to end, but leave the 5.5mm DC barrel port exposed so the connected INFINIBARs have no DC passthrough between them.

To expand array options, users may use the new 5.5mm DC Male-to-Male Power Cables (20cm) to provide DC power passthrough to INFINIBARs spliced together using passive connectors. These nifty cables provide users more flexibility to build out INFINIBAR arrays that are spaced further apart than what active connectors offer while still retaining DC power passthrough.
